The TwinsDays 5K run/walk will take place on Sunday morning again this year at Dodge Intermediate School, which is across the street from the festival site. It is an event that intends to promote and enjoy fitness while raising money for a worthy cause. The Melanoma Research Foundation will be our selected charity again this year.

Approximately 200 runners and walkers participated in 2006, with 15 sets of twins. Prizes were awarded for the top three twin teams, individual males and individual females. There will also be a kids’ “fun run” of just under ¼ mile on the track.

Once again, ChampionChip timing will be used for the official scoring. Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in age groups as well as twin teams, both male and female. The race is part of the Subway Challenge Series, a series of races in the Northeast Ohio area. The course has been measured and certified by USA Track and Field.

Race day registration begins at 7:30 AM at the pavilion near the entrance to the Center Valley Park trail which is located on the eastern edge of the Dodge parking lot. The entry fee is $35 for a set of twins or $20 per individual. T-Shirts will be provided for the first 500 entrants. The race begins at 9:00 AM. Walkers and strollers are welcome, too.

This event is inspired by the memory of George A. Wilkins, a lover of running and a grandfather of twins...
